Frequently Asked Questions

What is Relics of the Chozo?

Relics of the Chozo is a project aimed at producing a collective and collaborated interpretation of the soundtrack of Super Metroid. However, each individual piece, despite being a unique standalone work of its own, is also a part of a larger scheme arranged to create an ambience of continuity; one large song, if you will. The project could be thought of in terms of a progression of events/sentiments/stages of every relevant theme from Super Metroid for the Super Nintendo.

Who made Relics of the Chozo?

Various artists worked on this project in a joint effort. For profiles of those involved, check the artist's page.

How can I listen to Relics of the Chozo?

Make sure you have an ogg-vorbis supporting media player. WinAmp 2.90 and greater supports Ogg Vorbis. Then, download all 19 tracks from the download page. Enjoy.

There may be an alternate format release of RotC at some point in the future, but for now, only ogg vorbis will be used. There are many reasons I chose ogg vorbis over mp3 and I won't get into them here.

How can I help this project?

You can help mirror! This project is already drawing a good deal of bandwidth. We can use all the server support we can get.

In order to mirror for RotC simply download all the latest files and host them. Give me a link to the files and I will post it in the download section. If you decide to stop hosting the files eventually, simply notify me and I will remove the links.

You can also spread the music with these handy links:

Will you plan to do something like this with other game sound tracks?

Personally, I do not. Super Metroid is really a special game and I cannot think of any other game to do something like this with. Secondly, it took a great deal of my summer to work on this. Perhaps if I had more time I would consider another such project, but not at this time.

Why does this Website look so CRUDDY?

My Gamma/Colorization was off on my monitor when I made it. Also I was very tired and didn't feel like putting more than an hours worth into a website. My belief is - who cares about the site, just get the music. I thought I did the site in a brownish tint found in super metroid but it turned out green instead. Well, I don't care enough to redesign it. Sorry for all you webdesigners out there who are forced to withhold your vomit each time you come here from the crappy colors. If you don't like it - make me a better one. No really, make me a better one. .. No, really! ...really.
